Black Orchid Hair Studio is a locally owned boutique salon in Downtown Langley. Located in McBurney Lane Courtyard, the salon is surrounded by other local businesses and loads of character.

Black Orchid’s original location was a small studio apartment on Fraser Highway which opened in 2008. The salon continued to grow and evolve in that location for nearly 8 years. Eventually the business outgrew the studio space and owners Cristina Chambers and Shelly Sturmey decided to expand the business into the new location in McBurney Lane in March 2016.

Cristina and Shelly have worked together in the hair industry for over 15 years. They both have a passion for detail and organization which makes their working relationship magical.

Their team has grown immensely over the years and they continue to expand and adapt with the business. No matter the size, their main focus will always be to create a comfortable space for clients and staff to feel at home. They want every client to feel welcomed and be greeted as a friend.

Continuing education is a very important part of the hair industry and Shelly and Cristina encourage everyone on their team to continue building their skill set and push to the next level. They believe that coaching, goal setting and providing education has created a strong team of motivated and thriving stylists.
